first african-american first lady. an attorney and writer, born in chicago 1964. educated at princeton university and harvard law school, returning to chicago law firm where she met her husband. she was very active in his election campaign speaking at democratic conventions and on the campaign trail. among several health-related causes she is active in, is childhood obesity and the initiative 'let's move'. she's an advocate of lgbt rights.
