i am Jan. welcome to my world. at age thirteen i came to america with my family from denmark, on the heels of second world war. my now seventy-five years in america have been a rollercoaster, to say the least – three marriages, one interracial with two daughters, two grandchildren, two great-grands, and seven long term romances, two interracial.
i’ve had five challenging careers – architect, modern dancer, fashion designer, documentary filmmaker, and throughout all of that, a journal-making artist. i’ve been a dedicated exerciser, calisthenics, yoga, runner, race-walker, five marathons, and soccer player. i am vegetarian, half my life without meat.
the two strongest influences on my life are twenty years in psychotherapy and my identification as jew.
i cross my fingers in the hope of dying with a smile rather than a grimace.
